Devils Bridge
Introduction
This is the 6th Level of the "Tarragona: World Heritage Saga".
The episode starts at the end of level 1-2.
Synopsis
The level is inspired in two real roman monuments, "Devils Bridge" and "Medol Obelisk", both located in Tarragona and
nominated "World Heritage" by UNESCO on November 30th, 2000.
Devil's Bridge. The legend tells that a shepherd requested to the Devil to build a bridge between two
mountains, this will make his live easier because he will save time moving the sheeps. The Devil built it in one
night! The next morning the Devil request the price to the shepherd: the soul of the first who cross the bridge! But
he told him to take the correct soul. He was not the first one to cross it! The first one was a sheep.
In the middle of a roman stone quarry, there is an obelisk that shows the original level of the floor the Medol
Obelisk.

Warning!
There are two scripts in the ZIP:
- Script0106.dat This one is compatible with all the published TWH levels (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6). Copy it to c:\Program Files\Core Design\Trle
and rename it as Script.dat The script will crash if TRWH1 (Escipion.tr4) is not installed.
- Script.dat If you only have installed level 5, use this one. Copy it to c:\Program Files\Core Design\Trle
If you do not hear some sound probably that is due to the fact that you do not have installed the "patched wads" and its
sounds. You can find it at
http://www.eidosinteractive.com/downloads/search.html?gmid=103
or
ftp://ftp.eidos.com/pub/othermedia/tomb_raider_5/revised_wads0110.zip)
If you use your custom script its possible that you lose the name of the objects, the background music and the load
screen. If you decompile the script and you use the FlyCheat code, be aware that impossible/unexpected situations, like
reach some where before time, objects that do not work as supposed, ... I have work in some of them but ... Good look!
Some notes
If have been working with this level between March and September 2001. I was stopped several times the development of the
level during this period, and delayed its completion. The reason is the aqueduct area. This is not a too much complex
area it self, but is very large open zone, more than 45 units from West to East. As you probably know, the TRLE do not
show walls farter to 20 units, in that situation the walls appears and disappears, and if an horizon exist it also
appears and disappears causing a very unrealistic effect. I had been delayed the level till have an acceptable solution
to the problem, after test several ideas, finally I had decided that the best choice was use a third person view for this
section. I hope you will understand this compromise between the playability and the limits of the TR engine.
This level is the nexus between TWH1&2 (Escipions' Tower & Escipions' Caves), TWH4 (Devil's Lair) and TWH5 (The
Underground Empire). There is a first starting point, just at the end of TWH1&2. If you find the 1st secret then you will
promt to TWH4, at its end you will came back to a 2nd start point. At the end of the level you will reach TWH5.
If you do not have installed TWH4 or you do not want to play it again, after pick the 1st secret (Sliver Skull), do
not cross the door and came back to the Bridge area.
The Bridge are have some "volumetric" effects. You can activate or deactivated those effects with the TRLE set-up.
There are several kinds of enemies: 4 bats, 2 scorpions, 1 wildboard and around 13 soldiers. There are also 4 UN soldiers,
I would suggest do not kill any one of those, this will make Lara life easier.
I have also tried to make a non "too much challenging level". There are still challenging but I have tried to reserve it
for the secrets. The 1st secret needs a good searching, 2nd one needs some imagination and the 3rd one is well hidden.
I hope that "challenging lovers" will excuse me.
One thing is clear, it is not possible to please everybody at the same time! I hope you will enjoy the level!
I have developed the level using the default colour settings of my graphic card (Desktop, Direct3D and Glide/OpenGL
settings R:1.30 G:1.30 B:1.30), and less some rooms that are intentioned dark, I am able to see fine rooms. If you see
too dark, may be you need to adjust the brightness, contrast or graphic card defaults.
Recognitions
I want to thanks to:
- Michael L. Jelarcic, by his TRWest v2.0 utility, that I have used to generate the custom Wad. It is a
wonderful tool.
- John F. Jones, by his Texture Edit v2.0.0, used to create my texture file, he made me the live easier.
- "Turbo Pascal" by his StrPix v3.0 Beta that I have used to create/modify my Custom objects. Thanks a lot!.
Walkthrough
After the initial Fly, Lara slides the slope a fall into Underwater Cave. In the Northwest corner there is a
Switch (1) that opens the Trapdoor in the Northeast corner.
Now you can access the 4 Receptacles Cave, there you can pickup the Crowbar and get the 1st Golden Star
that is into cavity on the North wall (2). Now you can dive to the
Bridge section.

Look for a creeper and climb the bridge (3), there are 2 Golden Star,
one under the adjacent left (4) arcade and another under the right one
(5).
Now you must reach to top of the bridge. To do it you must reach the Northeast side of the bridge, look for a red
gun box, very near a camera will show the jump point to reach the bridge (6).
No run to the West, another camera will show you the exit tunnel of the area (7).
This tunnel will give Lara access to a dale (8); move the blocks a pick the
4th Golden Star and the Uzis.
Now you have the four Golden Stars and the way to the Receptacles room, the Stars will open the exit door of the Blocks
Dale. But you can look for the 1st Secret, the access is in near the Northwest corner of the Bridge area.
(9 & 10). After pick the Silver Skull (11)
you can jump into the pit and play TWH4 (Devil's Lair). If you do not have installed TWH4, the right Script.dat or simply
you prefer do not play the level at this time, make the way back to the bridge area and continue to complete the level.
Use the 4 Golden Stars to open the door and gain access to the Canyon. Follow the Cliff in the Southwest
wall to reach the 1st ledge, from here there are a couple of ways to reach the West Cave: the short one with a
couple of jumps, the longer and more difficult with jumps, back flips, holds, following the right wall. Once into the
small cavern follow the 1st Old Mine Tunnel. Now a couple of jumps, a Monkey swim, three more jumps and Lara
reach a Ledge in the South West corner of the Canyon. Now you can chose to jump to the left or right ledge in the opposite
wall. This will be the only possibility to chose the left one. There is not too much difference choosing left or right
way.
Following any of both paths you will reach the Barrage. Here you will find several blue helmet soldiers, of course
they are 3 UN Soldiers, I would suggest to be friendly with them, at the end you will enjoy with the UN help.
There is a bike: ride it; following the Barrage Corridors you will jump over the building ceiling. Now is the
to look for the 2nd Secret (12). Jump with the bike into the empty
pond and look for the Green Skull. Jump again over the ceiling and from there behind the building. Shot against
the gratings and access into the building. A push button will open barrage doors and the pond will be filled.
Bike Warning! Save the game before left the bike. If you left the bike at the end of the two
long slopes or behind the house, without opening its door, you will not be able to ride it again and you will need it to
finish the game.

The West tunnel is the exit but you need the bike and the ACME Turbo Compressor, to find it you must jump into
barrage water. The Compressor is hidden behind the last Waterfall, but previously you must swim into the tunnel. Now
you must came back to the point where you left the bike; the ascension point is in the ceiling of the small underwater
cavern in the East en of the Canyon. Came back to the bike and use the Compressor on it. Now you can ride the bike and
using the extra Compressor energy ("\" key) jump through the Canyon to the South Wall tunnel
(13). At the en of the tunnel there is the last section of the level.
This is the Medol Obelisk, here is located a group of hostile soldiers, up to a maximum of 13, that belongs to
the Underground Empire Organisation. If you keep good relations with the UN, a blue helmet will help you in
this fight. Notice that at the top of the Obelisk is the 3rd Secret, to get it you must jump from the exit
of the upper North wall tunnel, its access is from the lower North wall tunnel, but you need a key. The key is into
the Tent and it access is a hidden trapdoor in the East wall very close to the tent.
Now you only need to find the exit of the level. This is a trapdoor under the Jeep, pull the Jeep to gain access to the
exit and reach The Underground Empire level.
